I’m here in San Juan de
Miraflores in Lima!!! And guess what my companion is Hermana Bond! Yes, from
the CCM (MTC in Lima). The one and only Hermana Bond. I really think I’m still
in shock. haha. I’m super excited to be here with her. We have a lot to do this
transfer together so I’m ready to work hard!
So last week was super
good. They closed a program in our ward to the other sisters took our program
and Hermana Villena got transferred to San Juan as well so we will see each
other all the time :) Sunday was good. All the members were SO sad that we were
leaving. I’ve never had a ward like that. It was great. I made lots of lasting
friends in Ica. I will really miss Edelmira and Alejandra and Marisol and
Vanessa. They were all so cute and fun to work with. Leonardo and Marisol are
still progressing really well for the baptisms.
So here in San Juan we
are like kind of opening the area. The ward boundaries were changed recently
and so we have all the new part and then we are working in family history as
well. I’m excited to do both again. I was reading in
D&C 128:17 And again, in connection with this quotation
I will give you a quotation from one of the prophets, who had his eye fixed on
the restoration of the priesthood, the glories to be revealed in the
last days, and in an especial manner this most glorious of all subjects
belonging to the everlasting gospel, namely, the baptism for the dead; for
Malachi says, last chapter, verses 5th and 6th: Behold, I will send
you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of
the Lord: And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the
heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a
curse.
this morning and because
God is so merciful He has given us the opportunity to do work for the dead so
that everyone has the opportunity to enter into His kingdom. As we do family
history we feel more love and we understand the Saviors sacrifice better.
Well, I’m emailing super
late today because we cleaned our house from 10 until 1:30! It was soooooo
gross. By far the dirtiest I’ve lived in during my mission but its character
building right? Both of us like having our house clean so we cleaned and
cleaned and cleaned. Now, it is bright and shining. As we were cleaning I was
thinking about cleaning our lives up. In
Alma 60:23-24 Do ye suppose that God will look upon you as
guiltless while ye sit still and behold these things? Behold I say unto you,
Nay. Now I would that ye should remember that God has said that the inward vessel
shall be cleansed first, and then shall the outer vessel be cleansed also.
24 And
now, except ye do repent of that which ye have done, and begin to be up and
doing, and send forth food and men unto us, and also unto Helaman, that he may
support those parts of our country which he has regained, and that we may also
recover the remainder of our possessions in these parts, behold it will be
expedient that we contend no more with the Lamanites until we have first
cleansed our inward vessel, yea, even the great head of our government.
I love how it says we
have to clean the inside vessel before we clean the outside. It was like our
house today first we had to do the deep cleaning stuff. Throwing our papers,
sweeping, scrubbing the mold off from the shower etc. before we could do the on
the surface things like cleaning our desks. We clean our inside vessel through
the Atonement and applying it generously daily. We also do it through
repentance.
Mosiah 4:2-3 And they had viewed themselves in
their own carnal state, even less than the dust of the earth.
And they all cried aloud with one voice, saying: O have mercy, and apply the atoning blood
of Christ that we may receive forgiveness of our sins, and our hearts may be purified;
for we believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who created heaven and
earth, and all things; who shall come down among the children of men.
3 And
it came to pass that after they had spoken these words the Spirit of the Lord
came upon them, and they were filled with joy, having received a remission of
their sins, and having peace of conscience, because of the exceeding faith which
they had in Jesus Christ who should come, according to the words which
king Benjamin had spoken unto them.
As we apply the
Atonement and repent we feel happy and we feel free. As we left the house to
come to internet we both felt so happy and almost giddy. We felt like a fresh
new page has been turned. We are super excited to work hard together this
change.
This was our theme
scripture for leaving Ica, we read it a lot on Sunday. We applied it to us
though with our names.
Alma 17:1-3 And now it came to pass that as Alma was
journeying from the land of Gideon southward, away to the land of Manti,
behold, to his astonishment, he met with the sons of Mosiah journeying
towards the land of Zarahemla.
2 Now
these sons of Mosiah were with Alma at the time the angel first appeared
unto him; therefore Alma did rejoice exceedingly to see his brethren; and what
added more to his joy, they were still his brethren in the Lord; yea, and they
had waxed strong in the knowledge of the truth; for they were men of a sound
understanding and they had searched the scriptures diligently, that
they might know the word of God.
3 But this is not all; they
had given themselves to much prayer, and fasting; therefore they had the
spirit of prophecy, and the spirit of revelation, and when they taught, they
taught with power and authority of God.
Love you all lots!!!!
Hermana Bott
