I love it here in Peru!

This morning the Latinos left and it was sooo sad!!! it was so fun playing soccer and getting to know all of them.

hna Bailey and i woke up at 230 330 and 430 to help all of our roommates leave it was sad, i am so glad i was able to meet them, i sent some pics. funny story the 430 one we were up and 4 of the Latina were not up yet so we were frantically trying to get them to the bus to catch their plane at 6 am!! crazy morning, luckily we will be getting new Latinos tomorrow!!! I love it here!! the sun and weather is amazing! and yes mom i am trying my best to wear sunscreen! :)
Not sure how hard she is trying as she sits bronzing her toes:)
on Saturday we went proselyting in the Lima north mission and wow was it humbling!! i got a Latina companion for the proselytizing and she spoke no English so that was interesting, huge language barriers but we tried our best. Lima north is just shanty towns and i was in a nicer area and it was dirty, there wasn't any plumbing etc. they did have dirty cement floors which is more than what the people on the hill have. the further up the hill you get the poorer it gets. at the top they don't even have water running up to their houses!!! most of the people look so sad but the kids are soooo cute :) i was able to bear my testimony and pray in the homes that we visited.

we focused our efforts on less active members. and there are dogs everywhere! i love sister bailey, she is so optimistic and fun to be with. we are always laughing and having a good time!! so lucky to have her for a companion. i will try and send a pic of all the Lima south hnas. on Sunday during sacrament meeting the branch president, Pres. Adam's, gave a really good talk. It was on following the spirit. one thing that he mentioned was something that Elder Bednar said when he was here last April. one of the elders asked why he wasn't feeling the spirit and elder bednar replied with, quote- "cut it out, you're trying to hard and it wont do anything for you, just be a good boy." in my case its just be a good girl and do my best.

i am realizing more and more that a mission changes the missionary you really just have to be the best you can and make sure you're doing the things you're supposed to be doing and everything else will fall into place. i heard a quote that said- fill in the gaps with gratitude, attitude, prayer and service.

that is so true when you focus on the positive and serve things will work. Elder Grow came this Sunday for a special devo and he talked to us about working with the members and it is important that the missionaries and members are hastening the work together. One thing he said was- if you want to baptize more you have to reactivate more. Preach My Gospel is an amazing tool, I didn't realize how many things were in it, its not just the lessons etc. but how to study better etc.

i love my mission and i am so glad i am here. i haven't even been homesick!!! i love you all and hope everything is going great! sorry for the spelling my brain is half Espanol and half English. Spanish is coming very slowly but surely, it will come :) i made flashcards this morning to memorize all of the verbs haha.

miracle of the week- seeing Lima north and starting to understand where much is given much is required, right now in my life i have the opportunity to give the people in Peru the gospel. also, having amazing Latino roommates, i love them!!! :)

love you all!!  HAPPY VALENTINES DAY ON FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amor
